Walking in the mountains

Walking in the mountains is all about one thing. Awareness.

Each step you take is an invitation to become more aware.

Aware of yourself. Aware of everything around. Aware of the beauty of creation.

You are right there, within each step, in the present moment.

Of course, there is a summit to conquer. Of course, you were lucky enough to take the right step 10 minutes back. It doesn’t matter now.

The journey in the mountains begins with a sense of excitement and curiosity, combined with some amount of nervousness and a sense of awe.

Soon it becomes all about awareness. The excitement is still there. The curiosity is still there. The beauty is still there. But now you are aware. All of it combines to form a sense of awareness. Pure awareness without thought.

And awareness is all about the heart.

“Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself and yourself alone, one question… Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t it is of no use.”

– Carlos Castaneda

What if we apply this to our daily work? How about doing every single thing with total awareness?

Whether it is about sending a single text message or negotiating a business deal, what if we choose the path of the heart?
