It’s been a week working in operations.
Here’s what I have realized:
Success in operations is more about values than skills…
Sure, you are required to get used to the various tools, manage data, create efficient systems, etc. However, these skills are just a small part of your job and can be learnt quickly.
After that, it’s mostly about:
- Being responsible
- Attention to detail
- Ability to execute the same things again and again
Operations is basically about designing and executing systems for the effective delivery of the final product.
From the outside, this might be perceived as unimportant and non-creative.
Well, if you have ever run your business or even have experience with freelancing, you know the value of systems 🙂
“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”
- James Clear
It doesn’t matter how cool your idea or vision is, without proper systems in place, it will never manifest in reality…
The past week has forced me to rethink my own systems and processes. Time to reinvent again 🙂
What about you? What is that system or hack that has made your life more efficient?
