The last 6 months have taught me a lot about time. Although time as a concept is vague, its management is pretty simple.
Unfortunately, most of the time management techniques out there are flawed. Here’s why:
Time management never is and never was about time. We cannot manage time. It is not in our control. It keeps ticking…
In fact, time management is about managing priorities, energies and clarity.
Clarity gives rise to priority.
Priority gives rise to energy.
Humans work on energy. All that we do either refills or depletes our energy. In my opinion, it makes more sense to look at time management as energy management.
We are constantly transacting in energies, not in hours or minutes.
Instead of arranging tasks in time slots, placing them in energy slots is more meaningful. If we place an energy-boosting activity in between two energy-draining activities, it is more likely that the task will get completed.
Time will take care of itself…
