Been thinking a lot about this lately.
Why do people tend to follow certain systems to a T and care absolutely nothing about others?
On reflection, it is very obvious.
However, in the pursuit of efficiency, we often forget.
You create a system to solve for inefficiency. Sure.
But the answer to inefficiency is not always efficiency.
Some inefficiency can only be solved by a different form of inefficiency.
In fact, every system needs to have just the right amount of inefficiency manufactured into it. Purposefully. And that is a story.
Why? Because we are humans.
You can put in all the thought and logic you want to design a system, but it is useless if no one believes in it.
Systems create order, sure. But stories create meaning. And meaning creates belief.
So any system without a story is just good on paper.
In fact, without a story, it does not even exist.
There is no individual, no family, no company, no society, no culture, no religion, no country and no universe. Without a story.
