Have you ever gotten annoyed while opening a door, wondering whether to pull or push?
.
.
Well, don’t worry. You are not alone. Almost everyone faces this every day, either at the office, at home or someplace outside.
But have you ever wondered, why you struggle with some doors while operating others doesn’t even count as a conscious task?
Well, it is all about design. Good doors have good design. Bad doors have bad design. It’s that simple.
Hmm 🤔…
Q) What makes good design good, and bad design bad?
Good design is intuitive. It doesn’t make you think (not even for a second). It fits our needs so well, that it seems invisible.
On the other hand, bad design craves attention. It makes itself noticeable. It doesn’t function well because it is not intuitive. It makes us think. It is almost as if the bad design is screaming out its inadequacies.
Not just doors, even if you are having a hard time using an app or a website, it’s not you, it’s the design!
Good design is informed by a specific purpose. Bad design is not.
Good design is careful. Bad design is careless.
